Round 3 of PETRONAS MAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship will be held at Sepang International Circuit (North) this weekend. Riding alongside the riders of the CP150 race category would be Kasma Daniel Kasmayuddin of PETRONAS Sprinta Yamaha Maju Motor.

If round one only awarded him with a “DNF” status, round 2 which was held at a technical circuit in Tangkak gave him hope to continue with his perseverance and determination when he went on to showcase a striking performance consequently landing himself at the second spot on the podium. His achievement at the circuit was a picture of positivity for this season considering his unsatisfactory performances in the last three rounds of last season including the one at Tangkak during round nine.

Evidently, Kasma has certain traits and characteristics to ride competitively on a technical circuit. However, the upcoming race which will be held at a high-speed circuit may pose a different kind of challenge for the Johorian. In the race that was held at Sepang circuit last season, Kasma only managed to secure the sixth spot with a gap of 0.579 seconds from his contender. In a much bigger and wider circuit, the challenges no longer consist of speed but also takes into consideration the ability to move quickly and optimise the performance of the machine.

Commenting on the race, Kasma said, ““For me, the main challenge at Sepang circuit would be in terms of the overall machine because the circuit is quite wide and it is a long-straight. It does not really require much technical skills to be honest like the ones needed in smaller circuits. Therefore, the machine and luck play an important role in the coming round. In terms of the team’s machine, I think we have already obtained a slight advantage compared to last season so I am quite positive that we will be able to compete competitively and keep up till the end of the race at the circuit. Apart from that, we have also gained an important achievement in terms of handling and better durability of the suspension.”

“On my part, I don’t see that I have more advantage than the other riders especially on a circuit ground as wide and big like Sepang because everyone is equally on par and their machines are optimised. But what I am sure is that Akid would be my biggest contender because he has an added advantage on his machine. I will do my best to maintain my position among the front troops during the race. If possible, I want to finish on the podium. My goal this season is to collect as many points as possible and if luck is on my side, to take home the champion trophy.”
